In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I am posting my completed Boobie Scarf, made in honor of my stepgrandmother, C, who was only diagnosed with breast cancer two months ago and recently had a masectomy. Get checked regularly, ladies. I’m scheduled for an ultrasound next month.
I used two skeins of Debbie Bliss Aran Tweed in a pinky mauve (#11). I giggled with each completed boobie (I think the creation of the nipples made me giggle more) and have been waiting to post this FO. It’s a surprisingly easy pattern. I’m thrilled to have been able to make it for someone that giggled just as much as I did. C sent me a thank-you note stating that she can’t wait for someone to ask her about her scarf each time she wears it (did I mention that C lives in San Diego… her opportunity to wear this scarf is about two days wide.)

In other knitting news, I have started this:

It’s Breezy Cables from Interweave Knits (Spring 2006 issue). I’m using Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted in Sable. The color is waaaaay off in this photo because I used the auto-enhacing feature of the photo program to give more definition to the stitches. I still can’t see the pattern as well as I would like but that may have something to do with the fact that I should be using a 36″ circular instead of my 14″ straights.
I love how the mohair in the yarn makes the pattern look somewhat old. That’s what I was going for in making this sweater. It will be my around the house sweater. Something to throw on when a chill hits, or when I run to the mail box and/or convenience store for milk. I think it will go nicely with jeans.

In baking news, I made Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes for a birthday celebration. They are fabulous and easy to make. I can’t recommend the Barefoot Contessa’s recipes enough.

Gratuitous happy pup photo:

Miss Jessie is quite content here. This is her happy to be inside and comfortable pose. (She’s always inside so go figure.)
Also, Charlie has taken to grooming Sam:

Not sure what that’s all about since they’re both neutered males….
Please note that while my cat Charlie looks like at absolute tank in the above photo, he was. He tipped the scales at 20 pounds not too long ago. I have since put him on a diet and he’s down 3.5 pounds. While he is a big cat, crushing my chest while sleeping is a sure sign the cat is too hefty. Charlie’s not too happy to have his feed bag regulated but I feel much better knowing he’s at a healthier weight.
The cupcakes look delish, had to print the recipie.
Great job on the scarf!!! Those cupcakes look really yummy! Hehe, your animals look pretty happy too!
Thanks for stopping by!
hehe…I just inherited a 20lb cat from my mother- I’m thinking his weight may have something to do with being fed 2 cans of cat food a day in addition to bacon for breakfast (made especially for the cat) and all the dry food he could gorge on.
He’s still a bit grumpy about the new rations….but has somewhat forgiven me by this point.
Ha ha ha!! I LOVE the scarf!! Fantastic!!!
I love your boobie scarf!! Thanks for the reminder to get my boobies checked. Cancer runs in my family so you think I’d know better!
Aww–what a sweet boys!! And great scarf too.
