Charlie’s home!

Omg, I thought I was going to lose him on Tuesday. The vet called, said it was kidney failure and that there was nothing more that they could do. I cried so hard for Charlie for about an hour then I mustered myself up and went in to the clinic to say goodbye.
Tissue in hand, eyes glowing red, I sniffled to the assistant that I needed to see the doctor before saying goodbye to Charlie. The doctor comes in and says “The techs wouldn’t let me give up just yet. We tried something and I’d like to keep him for another few hours. We took the catheter out and he’s (TMI Alert!) peeing every 10 minutes now. I want to reevaluate his levels about noon.”
Well. I could have been knocked over with a feather.
Stumbling over myself, my mom (she drove me to the clinic) and I wandered back to where Charlie was and sat with him for a while. The drugs made him more affectionate than normal but I was happy to have the love.
Valentine’s night, I brought Charlie home. He’s eating special food now and the shaved parts will take a while to grow back in. He’s much more clingy now. Meaning, every time I sit down, he’s right beside me. And I’m quite thankful for that.
Thank you to every one who said a little prayer or shared similar stories. Prayer has power. Charlie’s proof of that.

That’s Charlie’s kitty pi.
It’s the only pi I’ve made and I did the decreases wrong so it doesn’t stand up by itself. But it does fit nicely in the basket.

Some Jessie-love for you.
awwwww! yay for Charlie!
I am so glad to hear that Charlie is home and recovering! My best friend went through many rounds f bladder and urinary tract issues with her Lilly (who looked alot like Charlie actually) so I waited anxiously to hear that all had gone well. Yeah!!!
Great! I am so happy for you and Charlie. Hope he has a smooth recovery.
That’s so wonderful!
Charlie is so adorable, my heart goes out to you and him. Having gone through the same thing, I pray he’ll be okay. Maybe a new low-ash kitty food would help?
Horray for Charlie!!
Go Charlie! Hurrah! I am so happy to hear Charlie’s doing well–he looks great. Give him some pats for me. When my cat was done with his kidney-removal ordeal, he got much more snuggly. I thought he would “get over it”, but it never happened. He still snuggles up to me any chance he gets, so who knows what Charlie will end up doing.
Oh, I am so, so glad!! Yay for Charlie!! Those pics of him are great- I especially love the one where he looks like he’s in heaven on a quilt!
Kitties have a way of worming into your heart, don’t they? It’s so great that Charlie’s made a turn-around! I’ll keep thinking good kitty thoughts
