I haven’t posted a meme in a long time and thought this one I saw would be a good one to post.
Why did you start a blog?
I started my blog almost three years ago because I needed a way to vent during my separation and subsequent divorce. I’ve always been a journal-writer and since I can type much faster than I can write, blogging was a natural progression. It’s also a good way for me to photo-document my knitting projects and, just recently, show some of the photos I’m having fun taking.
How did you come up with your blog name?
Honestly, I don’t remember. I think at the time I created this thing, I felt frenzied and my life seemed to go on in that manner, knitting and otherwise. I spent some time trying to come up with a name that didn’t sound like anyone else’s.
Do your friends and family know about your blog?
Most do. But I don’t know that they all read it.
How do you write your posts?
Free form.
I guess I should think about some of my posts before launching them into cyberspace but I’m just not that way. I usually write what I think and about 75% of the time I edit before posting. With my knitting posts, I have the notion that everything I knit will be posted at one time or another so I try to take pictures of projects when I think about it rather than when I sit down to post about it.
Have you ever had a troll or had to delete unkind comments?
No, thankfully. I have had to delete spam that the spam filter doesn’t catch though.
Do you check your stats? Do you care how many people read your blog? If you do care, how do you increase traffic?
I don’t do anything to increase traffic. I check my stats but mostly to see which words people use to get here on search engines.
Like “licorice thong”, “magnanimous” (the most oft used word I’ve seen pop up in the key word search) and I just recently discovered I’ve been linked to a site that caters to folks with eyewear fetishes – go figure!
What kind of blogs/posts interest you?
Blogs that make me laugh are good (dooce, killthegoat, confessionsofapioneerwoman). Knitting blogs of course (yarnharlot, grumperina). I love reading the blogs of folks that I know IRL too.
What do you like/dislike about blogging?
I have always liked getting feedback on my posts, good bad or indifferent. I hate that I don’t have as much time these days to post as frequently as I want to.
